Support Steamboat, a Non-Profit Hot Springs
Steamboat Hot Springs is of a class of mineral springs that is disappearing in the USA. In the 1920s and 1930s, there were many hot springs in the USA that were known for their therapeutic waters. Often these were managed by doctors who offered massage and other natural healing treatments in combination with use of the waters. In Europe these establishments continue to thrive, and research there shows that people who continue to use natural hot springs treatments tend to have fewer health problems than those who do not.
In the USA today, many of the old facilities have fallen into disrepair and have been closed. Others have been converted to fashionable resorts that have lost their therapeutic focus. In some cases, chemicals are added to their waters to meet health regulations, and this diminishes the therapeutic affects of natural water.
At historic Steamboat Hot Springs, we continue to offer access to our special mineral waters at an affordable price. Our “drain and fill” private tubs allow us to safely offer the water without the addition of chemicals, but this carries a higher cost.

Volunteer as a Staff Assistant
Our front desk and tub room attendants are volunteers. We ask that these volunteers make a minimum commitment of 4 hours per week for one assigned shift. Shifts are from noon to 4pm, or from 4pm to 8pm. We will train you. We are happy to provide our volunteers with a complimentary membership at Steamboat Hot Springs.
Tub room attendants prepare the private tub rooms for clients, filling the tub with geothermal mineral water, checking the temperature, supplying towels and drinking water, cleaning the tub and tub room after they have been used, and helping with laundry. Attendants also help with tours of the facility for new clients and prospective clients who stop in.
Front desk volunteers help answer the phones, greet clients as they come in, and act as cashier. Full time staff are usually available to assist with front desk tasks when needed.
If you are interested in volunteering, inquire at the front desk about the shift times that have current openings for staff assistants and arrange for an interview with our administrator.
