Hydrotherapy
Hydrotherapy or water therapy, is defined as the use of water (hot, cold, steam, or ice) to relieve discomfort and promote physical well-being. This does not make it sound like an important factor in improving health, or maintaining good health. However, when one investigates the recommended therapies for a variety of health problems, it is surprising how often one finds a recommendation for hydrotherapy. One can find it recommended for liver & spleen problems, skin problems, circulatory imbalances, toxic conditions, kidney problems, or arthritis to name but a few conditions. Additionally, we all know that it is beneficial for all kinds of strains, sprains and injuries, or for sore muscles. Oh yes, the biggie in our modern world stress relief.
How is hot springs water different from your water at home? If you live in a city your water has been treated with chlorine. If you sit in water that is full of chlorine your body will absorb the chlorine, which is not beneficial for your health. In the case of hot springs water there are no chemicals, and your body will absorb the many beneficial minerals found in the water.
At Steamboat you will find true natural healing waters of volcanic origin. The water comes out of the ground at boiling temperatures along with super-heated steam. By using a cooling tank we are able to offer cold mineral water in addition to the hot. In our private tub rooms you can control the hot and cold mineral water to achieve any temperature you find most beneficial. The geothermal steam room is powered by the natural hot water, just as it comes out of the ground.
To add to your hot springs experience you will find color, music, flowers, and candles in the private tub rooms; and by request we can add a little lavender to the water for enjoyment and relaxation. Also remember that hydrotherapy combined with massage is a wonderful prescription for good health. If you are suffering from any serious health problem, please consult with your healthcare professional before using the hot springs.
