Light & Color Therapies
Energy
Everything in existence, seen and unseen, is energy in one form or another.
Light is a form of radiant energy. Color is a component of “white” light, or the visible spectrum. White light can be divided into seven color regions, from red to violet, the colors formed when white light passes through a triangular prism or a drop of water.
The visible spectrum is a very small window in the whole range of radiant energy waves, which extends from the very short X-Rays to the very long radio waves.
Color Energy
The energies of color radiations depend upon their frequencies. Thus, the energy carried by violet is almost twice that of red, because almost two complete waves of violet can travel the same distance in the same length of time that it takes one wave of red. This doesn’t mean more is better! It simply means that the different colors radiate different amounts of energy because of their different frequencies.
All matter consists of and pulsates with energies of different frequencies. We are photo–electric energy balls! We are also primarily composed of water (about 70%), and if we could see our atomic structure, we would see more space than solids. We can be affected by electro–magnetic frequencies of color, and by the energy frequencies of sound, aromas, food, medicine, minerals in water or food, and any other form of energy we take into our systems. The human body is surrounded by an energy field, usually called an aura, which sensitives can see as colors. Each body system, such as the nervous, circulatory, etc., and organ of the body functions by receiving and transmitting energy frequencies that govern its life. Each part operates at a specific frequency.
Human Energy Centers
The colors of the energy centers are called color bodies or force centers (sometimes chakras or nadi in Eastern systems). There are eight such centers located from the base of the spine to the head. Basically, from red through violet, these centers are associated, respectively, with the areas of the generative organs, lower abdomen, solar plexus, splene, heart, throat and head (both violet and white-flourescent violet).
The color areas do overlap, but each center has a predominant color frequency that resonates with the energy frequency of the systems and organs it governs. Thus, exposure to a specific color can increase or enhance the energy of a center and the organs in that area. Colors in the red to yellow range are exciting and increase blood pressure and adrenalin production, while those from green to violet are calming and soothing. Color also has emotional or psychological effects.
Any one or all of the force centers can cause or heal illness since the centers respond to light and color. Lack of color in any one of the centers can result in physiological and psychological disturbances. Just as the physical body responds to the introduction of chemicals, these centers (which strongly influence the body) respond to light and color.
Research shows that many psychological as well as physiological ailments are cuased by weak color bodies. If a coor body is deprived of its natural source of nourishment — light and color — it, in turn, will deprive the physical body of its vitality. By the same token, if the physical body lacks a particular color frequency from organic food sources, it can deplete the corresponding color body of its vitality.
Research also shows that proper application of light and color can be successfully used to improve physical, mental and even spiritual attributes of the human being.
Therapies
Since everything radiates energy frequencies, effects upon the mind/body can also be achieved through the use of sound, aromas, minerals, etc. Foods, vitamins, minerals, all also affect the body through the frequencies they radiate. Although the skin absorbs dissolved minerals to some degree in a hot mineral water bath, the basic effect is achieved through the effect of the energy frequency radiations in the hot water.
Light, color, sound, water and mineral treatments have been used since ancient times for physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual therapy. These were highly developed arts and sciences used in healing temples at Heliopolos in Egypt, and in Greece, India, China, the Americas, and other parts of the world. Unfortunately, this special knowledge has been largely lost to the modern world.
Each individual reacts in unique ways to intake of energy in whatever form. Color therapy by itself is a very complex art. Fortunately, there is currently a renewed interest in many of the ancient arts and sciences by a number of modern doctors and scientists who are beginning to “see the light.”
Color Therapy in Mineral Tub Rooms
Each private tub room at Steamboat Hot Springs has built in color, utilizing stained glass windows or skylights and colored lighting. Seven tub rooms correspond to seven of the body’s eight force, or color, centers: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. The white room, which corresponds to the energy center of the upper head, or thalamus force center, is used for special energy work, including acoustic therapy sessions.
