Susan Schafer
Lead Massage Therapist & Naturopathic Doctor
Susan is currently our lead massage therapist at Steamboat Hot Springs and has been working here since 2017. Susan graduated from California State University Long Beach in 2009 with a BA in Psychology. Her journey took her to Bastyr University where she graduated in 2015 as a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine. After her graduation and making the decision to move to Nevada, she returned to Bellevue School of Massage and completed the hours to become a Licensed Massage Therapist. Naturopathic Doctors do not currently hold licensure in the state of Nevada and her passion for body work is what motivated her to return to school and become a LMT. She discovered her talent for bodywork in her first quarter at Bastyr and has been taking extra classes ever since to enhance her skills. Some of her specialties include, myofascial release, craniosacral, visceral manipulation, and dural tube release.
Susan has been participating in Search and Rescue since 1991. On her time off, you will usually find her engaging in outdoor activities such as hiking, scuba diving, and assisting in training a younger generation of Search and Rescue members. When she has a free moment, you will find her in Utah, Texas or Colorado visiting children and grandchildren. Susan is currently licensed in California as a Naturopathic Doctor, licensed in Nevada and a Massage Therapist, and is a certified Morphogenic Field Technique Practitioner.
